Irrigation Line Leak Repair
An irrigation leak may involve a buried lateral, main supply, valve, or sprinkler connection. Note when the wet area appears and which watering zone is operating so the provider can narrow the investigation.

Unexplained pool water loss needs an assessment that distinguishes leakage from evaporation, splash-out, or operating conditions. Describe the observed loss and whether it changes when circulation equipment runs.
View service detailsWater you can’t see going missing
Outdoor leaks are easy to miss because the water soaks into soil or disappears from a pool you top up anyway. The first clue is often a higher water bill, a patch of lawn that stays green and soft, or a pool level that drops faster than it used to.
Colorado weather adds its own risks. Lines that hold water over winter can crack when they freeze, and the damage often shows up only when the system is switched back on in spring.
Pool or irrigation: where to start
| What you notice | Where to start |
|---|---|
| A wet patch that appears when one sprinkler zone runs | Irrigation line leak repair |
| Water bubbling near a valve box or sprinkler head | Irrigation line leak repair |
| The pool loses more water than a bucket test can explain | Pool leak detection |
| Wet ground near the pool pump, filter or plumbing | Pool leak detection |
| Wet ground along the route from the street to the house | Water service line repair |
If water shows up near the house foundation rather than in the yard, mention it when you call. It may be a supply line, a downspout or drainage rather than irrigation.
Note these before you call
- When the wet area appears, and which zone or pool equipment is running at the time
- Two water meter readings taken an hour apart with everything switched off
- How much the pool level drops per day, measured over a few days
- Where the irrigation controller, valve boxes and backflow assembly are
Turn off the affected zone at the controller, or the whole system if water keeps flowing. For a pool, keep the water level above the skimmer so the pump doesn’t run dry.
Outdoor water questions
Is a soggy lawn always an irrigation leak?
Not always. Overwatering, poor drainage or a leak on the main water line can look the same. Noting which zone is running when the area gets wet helps tell them apart.
Can a freeze damage my sprinkler system?
Yes. Water left in pipes, valves or the backflow assembly can freeze and crack them. Damage often appears when the system is turned on again in spring.
How much water loss is normal for a pool?
Some loss to evaporation and splashing is normal and changes with heat, wind and use. A bucket test compares the pool with a bucket of pool water to show whether the loss is more than evaporation.
Will finding the leak include fixing it?
Not necessarily. Detection and repair are often priced separately, especially when digging or surface work is needed. Ask what the visit includes before you book.
Arrange outdoor water service
Call (720) 731-0399 with the property address and what you have noticed outside. Say whether it involves the sprinkler system, the pool or both, and ask about the assessment fee before a visit is booked. Check the covered ZIP codes first if you are near the edge of Littleton.
